Landmines

A more individual (and more damaging) version of the TNT Trap.
Materials:
TNT
Sand
Pressure Plates

                                                                                                                                       1. Make a hole at least 3 blocks deep.

2. Put one TNT on the 2nd block up.
3. Put a sand block on top.
4. Add a pressure plate on top.
5. Done! To accommodate larger mobs, such as the cow, pig, and spider, make the pit larger and add more TNT.

Easy Mob Trap

A simple holding cell for mobs.
Materials:
Stone
Stone Pressure Plate
Iron Door
Procedure:
1. Make your holding cell, length and width do not matter.
2. Add your door and pressure plate.
3. (Optional but recommended) You can add more doors for more entrances, too.

TNT Trap

For getting rid of those pesky mobs!
Credits to a1shot1der
Materials:
TNT
Wooden Pressure Plates
Water
Procedure:
1. Dig out a hole that is 4 blocks deep
2. Fill the bottom two blocks with water. You may need to use a sort of 'bridge' to put the water in the middle blocks if your hole is more than 2x2.
3. Fill the top blocks with TNT.
4. Put your pressure plates on top of the TNT (avoid stepping on them).
5. Now when a mob steps on it, they will fall into the water with the TNT and explode, but the environment will remain intact.

Easy Quicksand Trap

Not exactly quicksand, but pretty darn close.

Materials:
Sand
Boats
Procedure:
1. Dig out a hole 2 blocks deep.
2. Add boats every few spaces.
3. Add sand on top and you're done!
This picture is messed up, you can see it on Nerv86's YouTube video.

Super Easy Home Protection 02

Almost the same as 01 but with a moat!
Materials:
Water buckets
Stone
Procedure:
1. Dig out a hole 3 wide and 4 deep with a bridge.
2. Take your water and put one on each block on the side closest to your home.
Unfortunately, there is no picture, but you get the point.
3. Build a tunnel on your bridge.
